PICTON, Ont. – November 2, 2017 – Tim Kerr will make a return to the site of the biggest win of his career when he takes his Big-Block Modified to the Dirt Track at Charlotte in North Carolina this weekend for the World Finals. The event marks the final race of the season for the Super DIRTcar Series and for Kerr as well as the World of Outlaws Craftsman® Sprint Car Series and Late Model Series.
Kerr scored the victory and beat the best Big Block Modified drivers the Super DIRTcar Series has to offer at Charlotte on one of dirt racing’s biggest stages during the 2015 World Finals. Now Kerr is looking to reclaim the same feeling of elation he experienced two seasons ago to finish a rollercoaster season on a high.
“We weren’t even going to go, but about two weeks ago my dad decided we were going and I was game if he was game,” Kerr said of his decision to travel to Charlotte. “We rebuilt everything the same way we do every year and went through every part we could and made sure everything was as fresh as it could be.”
The event kicks off on Thursday night with qualifying and heat races before back-to-back Feature nights on Friday and Saturday. It’s a tough task to make the main event at any Super DIRTcar Series show, but there’s added pressure at Charlotte with the biggest crowds of the season.
“I hope I can shake off some of our bad luck from this season and start the weekend fresh,” Kerr said. “I’m definitely excited to get back down here. There’s always high expectations knowing that we can do it. A good solid qualifying night will be big. We need to get this thing through Thursday night unscathed and into the Features so we can concentrate on getting it really strong for the rest of the weekend.”
Kerr has had plenty of support over the past two weeks to get his No.07 ready for the trip to Charlotte. The car received a new body from Zach Aubertine of Zero3 Motorsports and a new wrap courtesy of The Vinyl Solution as well as the backing of Kerr’s loyal group of partners.
“We’re really happy. I have to thank all of our sponsors for their continued support throughout the year and all of the sponsors who have stepped up for this trip,” Kerr said. “A lot of people came through to get this thing looking sharp again. They don’t always get the recognition they deserve, but I’m super thankful to have them on our team.”
Kerr will be in action on Thursday, November 2 at the Dirt Track at Charlotte for night one of the World Finals. The event continues on Friday, November 3 and Saturday, November 4.
