Tim Kerr Looking For Horseshoes; Still Hard at Work

PICTON, Ont. – July 5, 2017 – “If somebody has available horseshoes, we’ll take a whole box and try them.” That was Tim Kerr’s reaction following another weekend of strange and frustrating luck during Big-Block Modified action at Brewerton and Fulton speedways.

The Picton, Ont. driver had another strong run going at Brewerton on Friday to close out the month of June and was leading the main event early on before a battery problem forced him to a stop under caution.

“We were leading Friday night and Larry Wight got by us,” Kerr said. “Everything felt good Friday night. I was chilling out under caution and thought ‘we have a good piece, we’re going to finish well tonight’. There wasn’t anybody that was going to get by us after Larry, I don’t think. All of a sudden I had no lights on my dash.”

On Saturday at Fulton, Kerr returned to action looking to find the same speed he had on Friday, but with a different result. The car was strong again early and Kerr was racing forward. However, midway through the Feature race, the handling on the car dissipated.

“Saturday night, we weren’t terrible for the first 10 laps and then it was like somebody flipped a light switch and the car just went backwards,” Kerr explained. “It was like a bar came out of it. It was so inconsistent. It wouldn’t do the same thing lap after lap.”

Despite his frustration, Kerr isn’t throwing in the towel on the 2017 campaign. Instead, he’s determined to work even harder to earn this finishes he deserves.

“It’s going to be one of those weeks where I’m going to have to hustle to get out of here Friday because I’m going through everything,” Kerr said. “I’ve had the worst luck. I’ve never, ever in my life had a battery hold down break or come loose. It was literally a $16 part that broke.”

Kerr is confident that as long he and his Kerr Motorsports team continue to make the right decisions on their Village Variety/Home Hardware Picton No.07, their luck will eventually turn for the better.

“Something’s got to break through eventually,” Kerr explained. “It’s just a matter of getting this monkey off our back.”

Kerr will be back in action at both Central New York speedplants this weekend, July 7-8 as he looks to return to the same form that earned him a pair of wins last season. Keep up to date with Tim Kerr all season long at www.timkerr07.com.
